Francesca Gater has worked in new economy-related communications since 2007. Based in Brussels, she has led communications for the environmental justice NGO Friends of the Earth Europe, the new economics think tank ZOE Institute for Future-Fit Economies, and for a Green Party MEP at the height of the UK’s Brexit referendum. She is an advocate for evidence – based, values-driven communications. She loves to share her experiences – good and bad! – to help others. One of the things Fran is most proud of is having mentored other communicators who’ve gone on to great work in the wider movement.

Maiko is on a mission to transform our socio-economies towards an ecologically and socially just system. And despite coming from the private sector, he believes degrowth and similar scientific frameworks have answers on how to accomplish this.
He’s spearheading the beyond growth movement in Estonia, by working for and being a Board Member at Tasaarengu Eesti. He is also a member of Research&Degrowth International, European Society of Ecological Economics and Club of Rome of Estonia. Has a BA in Political Science from the University of Tartu and an MA in Political Ecology and degrowth from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In his spare time, Maiko’s life turns around his family and his beach volleyball community.

Monika Martišková, PhD. is a researcher at the Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development at Charles University in Prague, Czechia. She is interested in industrial relations and collective bargaining in CEE countries. She is currently focusing her research on green and digital transitions and the consequences on employees and their working conditions. Specifically she is interested in the role of the labour market institutions, such as social dialogue or active labour market policies in facilitating the transition.

Amanda Calder
Project Equity
Amanda Calder is a mission-driven leader with 15+ years of experience across the private and nonprofit sectors. She currently serves as AVP of Advancement, Partnerships, and Learning Products at Project Equity, a U.S. nonprofit that advances employee ownership to preserve businesses, create quality jobs, and build worker wealth. Previously, she led corporate philanthropy at SPUR, a public policy nonprofit focused on equity and sustainability in the San Francisco Bay Area. Amanda holds a dual MBA/MPA from Presidio Graduate School and a B.A. from Gettysburg College. In fall 2025, she will begin a PhD in Disaster Science and Management at the University of Delaware to focus on equitable recovery and community resilience.

Anna Leitner, Campaigner for resources and supply chains at GLOBAL 2000 – Friends of the Earth Austria. Coming from a background of corporate sustainability, Anna fights for a world in which sustainable practices become the norm, the economy respects planetary boundaries and all people can thrive. As part of the environmental movement, Anna’s role is ensuring that companies are held accountable and that as a society, we build a future based on climate justice, international cooperation and a good life for all. Anna also has a role as campaigner at GLOBAL 2000, leading our work on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and co-organized the first Beyond Growth Conference in Austria.

Heather has a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Reading and a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. During her PhD she did a 3 month fellowship at the Parliamentary Office for Science and Technology in the UK on climate change and agriculture. Following her PhD, she worked at the Walker Institute as an Interdisciplinary Research Fellow for 2 years, including projects on climate risk analysis, groundwater and integrating flood forecasting with impact assessments to support disaster risk reduction work.
In 2021, Heather joined Green Alliance, an environmental charity and think tank based in Westminster, UK, as a policy analyst. She was promoted to senior policy analyst in 2023, and is currently working as head of research (job share). She works on topics including industrial decarbonisation, North Sea oil and gas, critical raw materials needed for the net zero transition, integrating nature into our economic system and the transition to a circular economy.

Jonathan is Head of Communications for the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, where he is responsible for managing all content and communications output in support of the interdisciplinary research team. He also serves as marketing and communications lead to registered charity the World Wellbeing Movement, of which the Centre is a founding partner and academic lead, and oversees communications for the World Happiness Report, of which the Centre is the publishing hub.
He is a trained journalist accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and has a background in academic research communications, having joined the Wellbeing Research Centre from the University of Leicester. He has also held communications roles in the charity and sporting sectors.

Jorim Gerrard is an economist specializing in macroeconomics and macro-finance. He works at the German NGO Finanzwende in the division Financial System & Real Economy focused on making financial markets more stable, socially beneficial and sustainable. Jorim studied economics in Berlin and Paris, concentrating on macroeconomic policy and financial regulation. Before joining Finanzwende in 2021, he worked on financial policy in the Bundestag for both the Social Democrats and the Greens. He also helped build the educational platform Exploring Economics at the Network for Pluralist Economics.

Drawing on ten years of experience across private, public, and non-profit sectors, Laura combines strategic policy expertise with analytical and commercial skills. Her work has focused on local economic development, housing and community-led approaches. Laura is currently Head of Strategy and Development at the European Community Land Trust Network, where she works to make community ownership of land and housing commonplace. Previously, she worked for the UK Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government, leading the Local Growth Funding team and also the policy team advising on COVID-19 social distancing regulations. Before joining the public sector, Laura worked as an economic analyst at Ernst & Young, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Sarah Cunningham is Managing Director of the World Wellbeing Movement (WWM), and host of the ‘Working on Wellbeing’ podcast series. Housed within the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Centre, the WWM’s mission is to put wellbeing at the heart of decision-making in both business and public policy.
Sarah is a purpose-led senior business leader, behavioural scientist with deep expertise in workplace wellbeing, and strategy expert with over 20 years’ prior experience, gained in companies including Accenture, Google and Mastercard.
Sarah graduated first in her year from LSE’s EMSc in Psychological & Behavioural Science.

After studying economics and business administration, he worked in the financial industry for 22 years, most recently as a portfolio manager for European equities at Franklin Templeton. Since 2018, he has been primarily involved in voluntary work, including with the citizens’ movement “Finanzwende”. He is committed to financial markets that once again serve the interests of society and works on ideas to finance affordable and sustainable housing

Winne van Woerden currently works as New Economy Lead at Oxfam Novib and Oxfam International, where she is part of the economic justice team and advocates for an ecological and social transition of our economic system. She is also an Affiliate at the Post Growth Institute and a Fellow at Commons Network. She has a background in international development & global health and degrowth economics and policy. She recently gave TEDx talk titled ‘Healing the World by Abolishing Growthism’ and is the author of the book ‘Living well within Limits: Building a Caring World beyond Growth’
