On behalf of the Partners for a New Economy (P4NE) board, I am pleased to announce that Jo Swinson has been appointed as P4NE Director. She will take over from Leslie Harroun, who after 5 years at the helm of P4NE will be moving back to Colorado to be nearer to her family.
Jo Swinson has a strong background in politics, economics, business and finance: She is former leader of the Liberal Democrats in the United Kingdom – the first woman and the youngest person to hold this position. From 2012-2015, she served as Business Minister in the UK, and in 2009, Jo co-founded a cross-party group of MPs to work collaboratively on new economic thinking and well-being economics.
As director of P4NE, Jo will be responsible for the continued development and expansion of the donor collaborative. Jo will represent P4NE; maintain and expand the network of organisations interested in economic systems change; shape, manage and expand our portfolio of high-impact grants; and coordinate the donors in the collaborative. Like all of the donors involved in this collaborative, she shares a passion for effecting change.
I am thrilled to welcome on board someone with Jo’s experience. She has all the qualities we need to lead P4NE into the future.
Jo Swinson says: “I’m excited to join Partners for a New Economy at this pivotal time. After this pandemic we have a chance to rebuild better, and it is vital we do so by transforming our broken economic system. There is a flourishing network of organisations already focused on different parts of this challenge, and I look forward to working alongside them and growing the wider movement to create the change we need for both people and planet to thrive.”
Jo will take up the position on 14 September 2020.
